6th form careers 

Careers 

Year 12 are introduced to the Careers resources for Higher Education, Finance and Sponsorship, Occupations and Gap Years by Mrs Saddal, our Careers Adviser. They may opt for individual guidance at any time throughout the year.

They are encouraged to attend Expanding Horizons and other career experience courses such as Medlink and to arrange additional work experience. The course details are published to all students.

The sixth form are invited to attend the biennial Careers Convention, where they can meet a wide range of professionals. Speakers are invited in to talk to girls about sponsorships with Deloittes and Price Waterhouse Coopers and BUNAC who offer Gap Year opportunties and summer camps in America.

Year 12 have an introduction to the ‘Minerva’ network of former pupils of GDST schools and focus on careers directions. They arrange Careerstart workshops in school on ‘Presenting Yourself’ and ‘Student finance’.

Mock interviews take place in the Autumn term of year 13 to help prepare girls for university and Careers interviews.

Year 12 students are given the opportunity to take part in the Young Enterprise Company programme.

Mrs Saddal gives talks on ‘Planning for the future’, ‘Sources of information for Higher Education’ and ‘Time to take Action’ to year 12 in tutorial sessions.

Year 12 and 13 have access to the Careers room throughout the school day during termtime
