Curriculum Leader:            Mrs S Auerbach

A Level Teachers:               All members of the department are specialists

Further Mathematics is a course which builds on the content of Mathematics and is demanding.  It is aimed at the more able mathematician and is a great assed for students who wish to study Mathematics, Science, Economics or a related subject at university.  Students opting for this course will have 2 of their A Level subjects as Mathematics and Further Mathematics.  They will follow the Mathematics course described above and have additional lessons to cover the contents of further modules

Students taking Mathematics and Further Mathematics will be entered for a total of 12 modules, the 6 described above leading to A2 Level Mathematics and an additional 6 modules leading to A2 in Further Mathematics.

For those students who do not wish to commit to a full Further Mathematics course it may be possible (numbers permitting) to offer an AS Further Mathematics Award in 1 year.  This will cover an additional 3 modules (instead of 6 for the full Further Mathematics) and students will follow the timetable of the single mathematicians and have extra periods in Year 13 to cover the necessary modules.

The minimum entry requirement for entry to the Further Mathematics course (AS or A2) is grade A* at GCSE or IGCSE.
