The aim of the course is to develop problem-solving, logical, critical and analytical skills through the practical application of information and communication technology. The course provides the basics required by real ICT professionals. You will be inspired to seek creative and innovative uses of ICT.
You will develop the ability to work co-operatively and manage projects.
What is it about?
The units covered include:
Unit 1: Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World
o Coverage of a number of fundamental issues associated with the use of ICT
Unit 2: Living in the Digital World
o How ICT can be used, including the limitations, capabilities and opportunities
Unit 3: The Use of ICT in the Digital World
o Addresses issues concerning the management of ICT and its use within organisations
Unit 4: Practical Issues involved in the Use of ICT in the Digital World
o Practical work concerned with the production of an ICT-related system
Software used on the course includes Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash and Outlook Web Access.
How will it be studied?
AS Units:
Unit 1- is worth 50%. This comprises of practical work and examination.
Unit 2- is worth 50%. This comprises of a written examinations.
A2 Units:
Unit 3- is worth 60%. It includes a pre-release study carried out prior to and as part of the written examination.
Unit 4- is worth 40%. This comprises of a practical project (coursework).
