At the plc and through the Girls’ Day School Trust we are unique in the endless opportunities for ALL students to gain leadership skills.
Year 12 start the year with a fun and challenging leadership and study skills day, which begins at school and ends at Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre, where the students build and sail rafts to learn skills in leadership and teamwork.
Later in the year all Year 12 students undertake a course to strengthen their leadership skills and to prepare them for the 21st century.
Leadership Challenge Week is an exceptional opportunity to develop teamwork, entrepreneurship and leadership. Throughout this process there is leadership and business training, coaching, mentoring and support from Sharon Pink, the leadership expert at Screen Idol Ltd, the proposals and marketing company also based here in Pinner. Sharon helps to guide students through the process of becoming true leaders as they take over the running of the school for a day. As part of this experience, students can gain a leadership qualification from the prestigious Institute of Leadership and Management as the plc at Heathfield has become an accredited centre.
Throughout the Sixth Form there are opportunities to hold positions of responsibility as Prefects and as part of the Head Girl team. In these roles students have the opportunity to work closely with staff and younger pupils.
The Year 13 House Captains are responsible for the running of whole school House competitions in areas such as Music, Public Speaking and Sport. They motivate and lead the school in these fun competitive activities.
Through our paired reading and paired maths scheme, the Sixth Form are role models and mentors to younger pupils.
On a Wednesday afternoon our Sixth Formers are Young Leaders in the Community and help in a range of activities throughout the neighbourhood from working in charity shops to teaching ICT to our local senior citizens.
The Sixth Form leads the school through their charity work especially in the Wings of Hope scheme.
In Year 13 students are able to attend the GDST Young Leaders Conference at Bath.
Young Enterprise flourishes at the plc and the standard is always high!
